A Very Green- Week Five

The Fiery Foxes were busy this week gathering research for their own project based on Extreme Natural Phenomena.
They then used this information to create a slideshow presentation covering:

- An introduction of the `Natural Disaster`.

- What causes the `Natural Disaster` to come about?

- Where the `Natural Disaster` can occur in the world?

- Which instruments and tools are used to predict and measure the `Natural Disaster`?

- What was the worst `Natural Disaster` ever recorded in history?

- Listed safety measures that one should practice if the `Natural Disaster` had to take place.

- Video footage of the `Natural Disaster` in action.

+ Anything interesting that is related to the `Natural Disaster`.

Once the slideshow presentations were ready, the Foxes had to practice and rehearse saying the information aloud because it was just about time to go, LIVE!
But, it was not just any `LIVE` presentation, the Foxes were going to participate in a new way of presenting. They were to present using a, GREENSCREEN. The excitement was real as the greenscreen was pulled out and being set up. The Grade Threes were excited because they were implementing and interacting with a new and different approach to presenting. But, as the camera started rolling the excitement quickly turned to nerves and they became very aware that they were now officially LIVE and could not stop the camera from rolling. But, before the nerves could get the best of them, their courage prevailed, and they completed their task with a big sigh of relief and a bright smile on their faces!
During Mathematics, they focused on data handling, multiplication, division and probability.
In English, they tackled contractions, comprehension skills and writing a diary extract.
For PE, the Fiery Foxes are having fun learning a gymnastic dance routine.
In Art, they have been moulding and shaping clay to create a miniature village that must withstand the forces exerted by a Natural Disaster.
Next week we will be taking a look at how their greenscreen presentations turned out. We will also use our problem-solving skills to brainstorm the best way to keep safe during an earthquake, taking into consideration our surroundings, wherever that might be.
